Sky Diver

I've been here before,
teetering over the edge of a cliff
I've ironically come
to love and fear.
Like a daredevil
willing to risk it all
for that single shot
of ecstasy even as
terror crawls against my skin.
But this time around,
I let go of the grip I had
on to the edge of the cliff,
scraping my hands raw.
And yet,
I open my arms wide
against the breeze,
believing that
instead of the solid
bed of stones at the foot of the cliff,
it'll be the sun kissed ocean
that will catch me this time around.

*** Fun fact: This morning, on my way to work, I noticed a jet plane leaving a contrail on the sky and even after all this time, it still never fails to leave me feel amazed by simply just watching it draw against the clear blue sky. The not so fun fact: I almost fell flat on my face because I forgot that I should keep my eyes on the road. Good thing I've got awesome reflexes. ;)
